のカケラを持って泣いている。
やさしくわけをたずねると、少女の家は親一人子一人。
親が大病なので、家主から１リットル入りのビンを借りて、牛乳を買いにゆこうとして落として割ったのだ。
家主に、どんなに叱られることかと泣いていたのである。
あわれに思ったナピールは、ポケットから財布を出してはみたが貧乏学者、一文の持ち
あわせもない。
「明日の今ごろ、ここへおいで。牛乳ビンのお金は、私があげるから」
少女とかたく握手して別れた。

そして少女との約束をはたした。
富豪は、ナピールを思いあがったやつだと、一時は怒ったが、後日それを知ると、いっ
そう信用を深め、彼を強く後援した。
金持ちほど怒りっぽく、あつかいにくいものはない。
いつも金で、何事も自由にできる、と思っている。
また金で、約束を破り節をかえる金銭奴隷が、いかに多いことか。
『儲け』は「信用のある者へ」と書いてある。
